Heartsparks Music Therapy is thrilled to announce that we will be joining forces with the Maritime Conservatory of Performing Arts to offer a new Music Therapy Program through the Conservatory. The Maritime Conservatory is a non-profit charitable organization with a commitment to diversity and inclusion who have been offering music and dance instruction for over 100 years. The Conservatory is housed in an accessible historic building in Central Halifax, with parking, a dedicated room for music therapy, a concert hall, many additional studio spaces, and a supportive administrative staff. Heartsparks was born out of a desire to bring more music therapy programming to our community, create job opportunities for new music therapists, and a mission to promote healthier and more joyful lives through music. From our modest “Music Shed” in Downtown Dartmouth, to our current studio space in Bedford, along with our growing number of community partner music therapy programs, in many ways we have accomplished our mission. Heartsparks has grown into what feels like more than a sole proprietor practice, with much credit to our team of talented music therapists (past and present), faithful clients, and community partners. We feel the opportunity to join forces with the Conservatory has come at the right time and are confident that we have the right ingredients for a successful and sustainable program, continuing on our mission to promote healthier and more joyful lives through music. This transition for Heartsparks clients will take place gradually between April- August 2022, with the new program officially launching to new clients in September 2022 once all Heartsparks clients have had a smooth transition.
